After reading the many reviews... Most of which were not very favorable, my experience at the Nostalgia was ok. The selection of cigars was vast but strange to find the dust all over the humidor. It was nice to be able to order a drink while smoking a reasonably priced Camacho mild stick. I assume the tall and lanky gentlemen was George. I didn''t have any bad experience with him other than not being very friendly. Good thing I came to smoke and have a drink!
Not a bad place to buy cigars but not the friendliest salesman either. The selection is not big
I found the shop online while planning my business travel as I like to have a cigar at the end of the day and catch up on emails. When I arrived, I thought the decor was a bit kitschy and thought it might be kind of a cool place. Lots of antiques and nostalgia from the mid to late 20th century but I would later regret my decision. Almost every cigar in the humidor had mold on it so I grabbed one with a cellophane wrapper that was newer and decided to "stick it out". (i kind of felt sorry for the guy since I was the only person in the place.) To make a long story short, I was basically chased out by the owner, an older gentlemen who essentially laid down on his couch reading the newspaper with a flashlight listening to the local news. He essentially chased me out because I didn''t order a drink or dinner from the attached restaurant. It''s sad because that place could be a terrific place and has some real potential, with a good deep cleaning, but the owner is the typical crotchety old man type.
Door was locked when I arrived. I turned to walk away. An old man opened the door and wedged himself between the gap and he asked,” What do you want?” I asked if he has Nat Sherman Cigaratellos. He said “No,” and began to shut the door. Then he said, “Well, maybe. C’mon in.” He led me inside. It was basically a home in a restaurant. His store, is his collection. Dont waste his time. He is old and rich. His clientele are specific. His shop is his home. It is what it is. The man is close to retiring. He probably only does this for the socialization and fun.
Ubered to this place thinking it was cigar lounge. It''s not. Walked into the humidor and I was very shocked to see mildew on majority of everything. At least half the cigars started to develop mold. I bought some canister sealed cigars and paid for em. The only good thing is the old guy. I can see him being the type that is grunchy but he was very nice to me so I was very nice to him. Unfortunately I have to say that this is the worst cigar shop I have stepped foot into and I do travel across the country and been to hundreds of cigar shops. Buyer BEWARE!
