This place is my go to, for pipe tobacco and the occasional cigar. Although the selection can seem a bit small, it’s all quality! The cigars are great, and his house blends of pipe tobacco are the best. The owner is very kind and witty, I always enjoy having conversations with him while browsing the shop.
I do not want to be disparaging, however this establishment was disappointing. Their pipe inventory was roughly 15 Cobs. Apparently they handle only one brand of tobacco. And the gentleman behind the counter was less than helpful. I drove an hour to get to an actual pipe shop. They are nonexistent in this area. Then I find I still hadn''t found one. Back to online ordering I guess.
The owner, Wayne, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I''m brand new to cigars and asked him for a recommendation; he promptly handed me a Punch Grand Cru and allowed me to smoke it right there in the shop. I greatly enjoyed our conversation (over an hour long over the smoke). This shop feels like a remnant of a bygone area. Transactions are cash only and recorded in a hand-written ledger. He''s owned the store for over 47 years and has been in downtown Columbia the entire time. Wayne has a solid selection of premium cigars at reasonable prices. I don''t smoke pipe so I can''t knowingly speak on the tobacco selection, but it appeared robust. Support this outstanding brick and mortar!
Jon''s has a limited selection but they are always great. The cigars are freshest that I have had. I have tried the online places and there is no comparison, Jon''s cigars are always a good choice. Just wish they had better hours for me to get there easier.
Cool shop, like going back in time. Got a great vibe. Felt like the early 70''s. Found an hard to find cigar.
