Buyer beware, please purchase elsewhere. On April 13th, at Jernigans I purchased a 5 cigar “gift” pack that included a lighter. I went home, smoked one and put the rest in my humidor. I smoked another a day or so later noticing I felt nauseous after. When I looked at the other three cigars, I noticed that they were covered in mold both on the wrapper and foot of the cigar. There wasn’t nearly enough time for mold to develop inside my humidor, and the rest of my cigars were mold free. I decided to remove them from my humidor and return to Jernigans on the coming Thursday and request compensation for the moldy cigars they sold me. I walked in, selected a few more cigars for purchase, and told the salesperson “I hate to even bring this up, but I bought some cigars here last week that had mold on them, can I get an exchange or refund?”. The salesperson told me “Oh it’s probably plume/bloom, not mold, just brush it off.” I informed them that there was mold in the foot of the cigar, and it couldn’t be brushed off. She said “Oh well, you should have brought them up here. Then I could have my boss look at them.” And stated that she was unable to give me a refund or exchange. I told her I had pictures I’d happily show her, with obvious mold on the foot and wrapper. She said I should have just brought them up, and then implied I lied about the purchase date of the cigars as “I think we got these back in December”. Luckily, I still had the cigars so I brought them up there the next day. When I brought the cigars into the store on Friday, the same salesperson was there. She took the cigars, didn’t inspect them, and took my information and said that her boss would be in Sunday and I should expect a call then. Sunday comes and goes, and I do not receive a phone call. I call myself on Monday afternoon, and the person who answered the phone (sounded like the same salesperson) informed me her boss decided it was indeed “plume/bloom” and I would not be receiving any compensation. And I could call the boss at the sister store “Puffs and Stuff” since she was there that day. I call the “Puffs and Stuff” store and the manager there, Ala, claims that this is indeed “plume/bloom” and that she “has been doing this for 20 years” and I would not receive a refund. I informed her that “plume/bloom” does not exist and this was, in fact, mold and couldn’t be brushed off easily as it was on the foot of the cigar. After several minutes of back and forth she offered me to receive 3 of the same kind of cigar and refused to offer a full refund for selling a defective product. She, as well, implied that I lied about the purchase date of the cigars, that I could prove on my phone. I fail to see how this method of customer service entices repeat customers, like me, to return to the store. Having been to Jernigans several times, and not having such a bad experience, I expected better than this. I expected to have my concerns taken into account and to be believed when told I received a defective product, especially when I could provide proof. I expected not to have to return to a store on three separate occasions to receive the bare minimum in compensation for that defective product. I am shocked that a brick and mortar tobacconist operates like this in the day and age of easy, and affordable, online purchase. If I had purchased these cigars from a reputable online retailer, I would have been refunded without question. I see that the owner is incredibly active for these reviews, if they desire to reach out to me, I would love to discuss this issue and try to make it right, as I am sure it was a mistaken case by their employees. Until then… Please take your purchases elsewhere.
The people are friendly, and a great place to just hangout and smoke a cigar and have a beer or two…and that’s it. Beer is 9 dollars for a draft? That’s ridiculous. 27 dollars for 3 beers is kinda high. I get it, you can smoke and drink so I expect it to be a little higher; but not that high.
You wont See many tobacco shops in malls let alone like this featuring a full bar, ample seating and a good selection of cigars from the walk in humidor. (Cigar featured is not a cigar they carry however if your looking for crowned heads this location does have a handful of offerings.)
Great lounge-like setting to have a relaxing sip of bourbon, smoke a favorite cigar and chat with friends.
Unfortunately my husband and I have received subpar service here a few times. Which sucks, because overall the business is very good. It’s just this one middle-aged bartender woman who always makes us feel unwelcome and like we are a burden by being in the establishment. Other than her, our experience is typically great.
